As the associate athletics director for compliance and senior woman administrator, Jennifer Phillips oversees the NCAA compliance program at JMU, coordinates the eligibility and financial aid processes for their student athletes and coordinates the athletics division’s rules education program regarding compliance issues. She has also more recently taken on oversight of student-athlete services.

Prior to JMU, Phillips was a compliance/financial aid coordinator at the University of Colorado before taking her first JMU position as an assistant director of compliance. She then took the same position at West Virginia University for two years before accepting an assistant athletics director for NCAA compliance at Gardner-Webb University. Phillips was at Gardner-Webb for four years before returning to JMU in 2008 as an assistant athletics director for compliance.

Phillips graduated from West Virginia University in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science in business administration and management and went on to receive a Master of Science in sport management from WVU the following year.

Phillips has two children, a daughter Skylar, and a son Jaxen.
