HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Graduate student Hannah Shifflett launched three of James Madison's five home runs to help lead the Dukes past Marshall, 7-6, on Saturday afternoon at Dot Hicks Field.

The Dukes improve to 24-15 with a 9-8 mark against Sun Belt competition, while the Thundering Herd dropped to 37-7, sitting at 12-3 in league play.

Sophomore Rebecca Muh picked up her fifth win on the season, pitching 2.2 steady innings of work. Muh recorded one strikeout, two walks, and yielded on run.

Shifflett went 3-4 with three home runs, three runs scored and four RBI's while, junior Kylee Gleason and freshman Bella Henzler chipped in with two hits of their own.

Graduate Hallie Hall, junior Reed Butler, sophomore Jasmine Hall, and freshman KK Mathis each tallied a hit in the win.

How It Happened:

Mathis got things started with a home run to center field on the first pitch of the game.
Marshall fired back with a two-run home run to left field to put the Thundering Herd ahead by one run in the bottom of the first inning.
Shifflett sailed a two-run home run over right-center field for the Dukes to regain the lead, 3-2.
Jasmine Hall continued the home run festivities when she launched one over right field to put JMU up by a pair.
In the fifth inning, Shifflett plated the Dukes' fifth run off her second home run of the day, while H. Hall recorded a triple and scored Henzler.
Marshall scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning from a walk and an RBI single to cut the deficit to a run.
The Thundering Herd pushed the tying run across home plate in the bottom of the sixth inning from a fielder's choice.
Shifflett blasted her third and final home run of the game in the top of the seventh to give the Dukes a one-run advantage, 7-6, which proved to seal the deal for JMU.
