Raleigh, N.C. – James Madison softball competed in its second day at the Wolfpack Classic on Saturday, winning both of its games against Penn,8-0, and host NC State, 5-1.

James Madison extends its win streak to four and moves to 7-3, while Penn drops to 0-3 and NC State falls to 5-9.

JMU 8, Penn 0

Junior Alissa Humphrey pitched a shutout in the circle for the Dukes, striking out 10 while scattering only two hits.

Freshman Kate Carrier made her presence known in her first start for the Dukes, recording a career-high three hits to lead the team and added two RBI's.

Freshman KK Mathis hit her first career home run in the bottom of the third inning, a three-run shot to extend the JMU lead to four.

Junior Kylee Gleason and freshman Bella Henzler also chalked up two hits during JMU's first game, while graduate student Hannah Shifflett and sophomore Jasmine Hall each added a hit of their own.

Graduate student Hallie Hall got James Madison on the board first with a two-run home run in the first inning.

NC State fired back with a solo home run in the second inning to cut the deficit in half.

Sophomore Rebecca Muh picked up her third win of the season behind her second complete game of the season to improve her record to 3-0. Muh allowed only one run, walking two and struck out five batters, while scattering six hits.

Freshman Bella Henzler broke the game open in the fourth inning with a two-run single to give JMU a 4-1 lead after freshman KK Mathis doubled to put herself and Jasmine Hall in scoring position.

Graduate students Hannah Shifflett and Avery Pinder and sophomore Jasmine Hall also recorded hits in the game two victory

James Madison closes out the Wolfpack Classic on Sunday, Feb. 26 with a 1 p.m. rematch with NC State.
