Dukes Drop Series Finale at Hofstra

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – James Madison baseball dropped the finale of its series with Hofstra, 15-6, on Sunday afternoon at University Field.

The Dukes now sit at 26-23, 11-9, while the Pride end their regular season at 26-21, 15-9.

Graduate student Justin Showalter started and went 2.2 innings with two strikeouts. Redshirt sophomore Mason Dunaway led the team offensively, tying his career-high in hits with three and adding a run scored, a walk, and two RBI's.

How It Happened.
The Dukes got out front first, as redshirt junior Travis Reifsnider hit the first triple of his career in the first inning before scoring on Dunaway's infield single. The Pride responded quickly and forcefully, scoring eight runs in the home half of the first. They added a run in the second and two in the third to lead 11-1 through three.

Redshirt freshman Grant Painter singled in a run in the fourth to get the Dukes back on the board before the teams traded runs in the sixth and seventh innings. JMU scored twice in the sixth, but were followed by a run by Hofstra. The visitors then got that run back in the seventh before the Pride added two more runs to lead 14-5.

An RBI single in the eighth made it 15-5, but the Dukes were able to get another run on the board before their final out as Dunaway knocked in his second run of the game on an infield single.

Brad Camarda went 5.1 innings to earn his seventh win of the season for Hofstra.

- In the seventh inning, Travis Reifsnider hit his 12th home run of the season. It is the most home runs hit by a JMU bat since 2011 when Jake Lowery tied the program record with 24.
