Amber Monroe continued her fantastic season with a first-place finish in the discus throw on the first day of the 2016 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Outdoor Championships at the Weaver Track & Field Stadium on Friday evening.
The Miami, Fla. native topped the field of 29 throwers with a distance of 53.16 meters (174'5"), her second-best mark of the year. The performance comes after she won gold in both the shot put and discus throw last weekend at the 2016 Colonial Athletic Association Championship en route to winning the most outstanding CAA women's field athlete award. Dominique Johnson also competed in the discus throw, placing eighth with a toss of 43.59 meters (143').

Tessa Mundell ran in the 3,000-meter steeplechase later in the day, placing 11th and 14th with times of 10:38.30 and 10:41.47 respectively. The effort is a personal best in the steeplechase for Mundell as she surpasses her previous-best mark of 10:48.87.
The Dukes return to action tomorrow morning when the 4x100-meter relay trials kick off day two of the ECAC Outdoor Championships at 10:30 a.m. The day continues until 4x400-meter relay trials take place at 2:20 p.m.
