HARRISONBURG, Va., Nov. 14, 2008 -- James Madison women's basketball coach Kenny Brooks has announced the signing of five players to scholarships during the NCAA's fall signing period.
The 2009 recruiting class includes the following:
Stacei Fulp-Dennis, a 5'11" guard/forward from Harrisburg, Pa. (Harrisburg High School; AAU: Team Unique). She won all-state AAAA third team and All-Mid Penn District 3 first team honors as a junior, when she averaged 17.5 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. She was also named to the Harrisburg Patriot-News Big 15 and earned Sporting News All-America honorable mention. Her team won the 2007 District III championship.
Tarik Hislop, a 5'7" point guard/swing guard from Silver Spring, Md. (Paint Branch High School; AAU DC Heat). Hislop was the Gatorade state Player of the Year and Gazette News Montgomery County Player of the Year in 2008, when she also won first team Washington Post All-Metro, all-county and all-division recognition. She averaged 21.0 points and 7.4 rebounds per game and passed the 1,000 career point mark as a junior.
Kristine Mial, a 5'11" guard/forward from Springfield, Va. (Robert E Lee High School; AAU: James Lee Razorbacks). She won all-state honorable mention and was named to the VirginiaPreps.com all-state second team last season, when she averaged 19.9 points and 14.0 rebounds and passed the 1,000 career point mark. Mial was voted the most valuable player at the Northern Region Tournament as she helped lead Lee to the 2008 Northern Region championship. She is a two-time all-region first team honoree and a three-time All-Patriot District first team selection and also won Washington Post All-Metro honorable mention in 2008.
Nikki Newman, a 6'2" guard/forward from Harrisonburg, Va. (Turner Ashby High School; AAU: Fairfax Stars). Newman was named first team All- Region 3 and All-Massanutten District as a junior, when she averaged 10.7 points per game. She also earned AAU All America honorable mention.
Nichelle Glover, a 6'1" forward from Jacksonville, Fla. (Wolfson High School, Santa Fe Community College). She has been named to the preseason NJCAA Division I All-America first team and last season was selected to the All Mid-Florida Conference second team. She averaged 11.4 points per game last season at Santa Fe.
