    As a redshirt senior:  Tied for eighth in CAA in hits allowed (74), tied for fifth in runs allowed (40)...made his season debut on opening day against Binghamton where he settled down the Bearcat offense, going 4 1/3 innings while giving up one hit and striking out five...started against the Tennessee Volunteers where he got the no-decision going four innings allowing two runs off three hits and fanning four batters...notched his first win of the season by beating Virginia Tech where he went five innings giving up just two runs off seven hits and fanning four Hokies...picked up his second win in a row against Liberty, going a scoreless 5 1/3 innings allowing just five hits with one walk and one strikeout...recorded his third win against VMI going a solid five innings giving up three runs while scattering nine hits and fanning five Keydets...pitched 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief at VMI allowing just three hits and fanning three batters...pitched four innings of relief against George Washington allowing just one hit and striking out four batters...in the same GW game, smacked a two-run double to provide some insurance runs in the 11th inning in his first collegiate plate appearance...made two relief appearances against VCU going a total of three innings while striking out three and not allowing a hit or run to run scoreless innings streak to nine innings... key to JMU's comeback win over Charlotte in Raleigh Regional, entered after 49ers scored nine runs in two innings and led 10-2, held Charlotte to one unearned run over two frames and left with Dukes down 11-10 as JMU went on to win 13-12...

     

    As a redshirt junior: Shut down Delaware on five hits over 5 2/3 innings after entering with a 10-0 deficit... threw 3 1/3 scoreless innings over two games against Towson... tossed a shutout inning against Richmond... made his fourth start of the season and pitched well in JMU's victory over #3 Virginia... pitched a career-high 6 1/3 innings and only gave up one run, while striking out three in that game... improved to 2-0 on the season with two relief innings pitched versus Hofstra... gave up one hit and one walk in one inning of relief work versus Liberty... pitched 2/3 of an inning in relief against Longwood... did not allow a base runner and struck out one... threw three innings in relief versus Radford... surrendered just one hit and one walk... pitched two perfect innings with two strikeouts in relief in first UNCW game... made second start of the season against Virginia Tech... gave up five hits and four runs in 2 1/3 innings... made first start of the season against Maryland... threw a season-high 5 1/3 innings giving up four runs on seven hits to earn his first victory of the season... pitched 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief in second Charlotte game.

     

    As a redshirt sophomore: Threw 1 1/3 innings giving up three runs and striking out three in 10-9 loss to UNCW in CAA tournament... retired the final 12 batters and 13 of 14 faced to preserve the rest of the bullpen during first-game loss in UNCW series... that proved crucial for remainder of the series... tossed 1 1/3 in game two at Towson... pitched an inning in relief allowing one run on two hits while striking out two at Liberty... threw three scoreless innings of relief allowing only one hit while fanning four in game two at Old Dominion... pitched two innings of relief at Virginia Tech, allowing no runs on two hits, one walk and two strike outs... finished the eighth in the third game at William and Mary, giving up one hit and no runs... worked a scoreless inning versus Fairfield... made his first appearance of the year by retiring all five he faced as the first out of the pen in the Clemson series finale.

     

    As a sophomore: Missed the 2005 season while recovering from arm surgery.

     

    As a freshman: Allowed just one run in 3 2/3 innings against Fordham... made first career start against Coppin State, going six innings and allowing just two runs on three hits... also started against Le Moyne... tossed four innings of relief against UNC Wilmington... first collegiate decision was a win in game one of the Hofstra series... worked two innings of one-hit relief and fanned three... allowed one run on four hits in 4 1/3 innings over two appearances against George Mason.

     

    Before JMU: Four-year baseball starter for the Falcons of Green Hope High School... All-Tri-Seven Conference selection as a senior... posted 5-2 record with 2.55 ERA, 44 strikeouts and nine walks in 46 2/3 innings... team Most Valuable Player and first-team 4-A All-State as a junior... went 12-1 on the mound with an ERA of 1.23 in 80 innings... Falcons won the Tri-Seven championship and went 22-3 overall... all-conference and all-academic as a junior... played for Region 3 in the N.C. State Games... Carolina Mudcats Diamond in the Rough award... also named team MVP as a sophomore... Tri-Eight 4-A All-Conference as a sophomore... competed in the USA Junior Olympic Baseball Championships in Jupiter, Fla... received the Coach’s Award as a freshman... played scholastically for Mike Miragliuolo... member of 2001 Junior American Legion Division Champions, and of the 2001-2002 Perfect Game USA Baseball American World Wood Bat Championships... earned academic letters throughout high school. 

     

    Personal: Son of Julie and Peter Kaylid... enjoys golf, basketball, and church... finance major.

              For baseball, its great education, and an amazing campus.
