As a freshman: Made his collegiate debut against Radford in a relief appearance, going 2 2/3 innings while giving up one run off one hit and walking one and striking out two batters...recorded his first collegiate save against GSU in game one, going the final three innings, allowing one earned run off three hits and fanning two batters... made a relief appearance against Virginia Tech where he went 1 2/3 innings while allowing just one hit and no runs and fanning one Hokie...picked up his first collegiate win by starting his scheduled two innings against Radford where he did not allow a hit and struck out one... missed remainder of season due to injury...
Before JMU: Played for Marco Marcelo and the Half Hollow Hills Thunderbirds... 2006 Empire State Games gold medalist... 2007 Suffolk County League Three champions... as a sophomore, made the Suffolk County All-League V team... as a sophomore, named MVP... made Suffolk County All-League III as a junior and senior... as a senior, received the Paul Gibson Award and named best pitcher in the county... made the Vytra Grand Slam Challenge All-Star Team... made All-County team... made All Long Island team... made first team All-State... three-time Scholar Athlete Award winner.
Personal: Son of Linda and Joseph Mincone... enjoys golf and fishing... business management major.

Getting to Know John...
What is your major and why did you choose it?
I am a Business Management major.
Why did you choose JMU?
I chose JMU primarily because I feel I can come right out and contribute as a freshman. Another reason I chose JMU is because my brother is a senior here.
What do you enjoy most about JMU baseball?
I feel like the connection between the team is outstanding.
What are your goals for this year?
Individually, I want to become a weekend starter. As a team, I would love to reach at least an NCAA regional.
What is your favorite pre-game music or ritual?
On days I pitch, I like to keep to myself pretty much the whole day. I don’t like talking to many people because I use the day to visualize my mechanics and gather my thought on how to throw to every batter.

What can’t you live without?
My grandmothers cooking.
What is something most people don’t know about you?
I like to keep most things out in the open.
What activities or hobbies do you enjoy other than baseball?
Golf, fishing, bowling and football.
What do you want to do after college?
My goal is to play professional baseball, but if that doesn’t work out I would like to take over my father’s Law Firm with my brothers.
