On Monday, May 24, the Fredericksburg Duke Club Chapter held its annual golf tournament to help raise money for student athlete scholarships and the general operating budget. Coaches Kenny Brooks (Women's Basketball) and Jeff Durden (Football) along with other members of the JMU Athletic staff joined members of the Fredericksburg Duke Club for a beautiful day at Lee's Hill Golf Course. The event was very successful in raising over $2,500 for the JMU Duke Club.
Recently, former Fredericksburg Duke Club President, and loyal JMU fan, Marc Butler passed away after a battle with cancer. In honor of Marc's life and his incredible passion for JMU Athletics, the tournament will be known as the "Marc Butler Memorial Golf Tournament."
Awards were presented at the conclusion of the day to the participants:
Male Longest Drive: Mike Hart
Female Longest Drive: Teresa McLawhorn
Male Closest to the Pin: Steve Berry
Female Closest to the Pin: Denise Gibson
Thanks to all who participated. We hope you had a wonderful day and look forward to seeing you next year.
