Former basketball players Mary Lou Carroll ('56) and Katherine Johnson ('77) are among five honored in the inaugural inductions into the JMU Sports Hall of Fame. Carroll played in five AAU National Basketball Championships and was named the outstanding player in the Washington, D.C., area in 1967. Johnson was JMU's first All-America and first 1,000-point scorer. Former basketball coach Althea Loose Johnston is inducted into the Hall of Fame posthumously.
