 Game Notes:

  • The Dukes have now won nine of their last 10 season openers with the 5-1 victory over Kent State (8/30).
  • Over the opening weekend, JMU outscored their opponents 13-2 as nine different Dukes scored over the two games.  JMU outshot their opponents 52-20 and took 19 corners to opponents’ 11.
  • Redshirt sophomore Taylor West earned CAA Player of the Week honors after posting five goals over the weekend, including a hat trick in the home opener against Kent State (8/30).  She also converted two penalty strokes over the weekend, one each game.

  • JMU has never lost to Villanova, holding a 6-0-1 advantage in the all-time series. The teams played to a 1-1 tie in the last meeting, held at Villanova in 2011.
  • Lauren Wilson is just two goals away from cracking the top-10 on JMU's all-time list. The senior is currently 12th with 24 career goals.
  • The Wildcats' goaltender, senior Jami Kranich, was a member of last year's U20 U.S. Women's National Team.

  • Senior libero Katie Daorai enters the weekend with 1,204 digs, making her just the fourth player in school history to amass more than 1,200 digs. She needs seven digs this weekend to surpass Molly Ball (1988-91) for third on the all-time list
  • Senior middle blocker Lizzy Briones set career-highs in kills (24), digs (nine) and blocks (10) during last weekend's action in the Jefferson Cup
  • CSU Bakersfield enters the weekend at 2-2 on the East Coast trip. It went 2-1 in last weekend's Davidson Wildcat Classic before falling to Radford on Wednesday.

  • Head Coach Mickey Matthews currently has a 104-65 record and will once again see Terry Bowden on the other sideline, as Matthews was an assistant at Georgia when Bowden was the head coach at Auburn.
  • Dukes are 4-17 in games against FBS opponents and the only other MAC school the Dukes have played was Ball State.
  • Senior linebacker Stephon Robertson posted 12 tackles in the opener, tying for game-high honors with teammate and fellow linebacker freshman Gage Steele
  • Senior running back Dae'Quan Scott is currently seventh in all-time rushing at JMU, second in career rushing touchdowns and seventh in overall scoring.

  • Freshman Robin De Bruyne scored her first career goal against Kent State (8/30) to put the Dukes up 4-1.  She tallied her first collegiate point off an assist to West in the same game.
  • Senior Stephanie Tarafas made her first start since Aug. 26, 2011 at Rutgers when she took the net against Ball State.
