NORFOLK, Va., June 27, 2013 – A pair of James Madison field hockey players represented the Dukes at the National Futures Championship in Norfolk, Va., this week. Rising junior midfielder Dana Allaband (Elkton, Md./Rising Sun) and rising redshirt sophomore forward Taylor West (Princess Anne, Md./Pocomoke) competed at that six-day camp that was also used as a tryout for the USA Field Hockey Junior National Camp.
West played for the U-21 South team while Allaband was a member of the U-21 North squad. West’s team went 1-1-1 in pool play, scoring a goal in three games, while Allaband helped guide the North team to a 2-0-1 mark.
The two teams met in the U-21 finals with the North squad prevailing 3-2.
West finished second on the team in goals and points in 2012. She scored seven goals and added three assists for 17 points. In her career, she’s scored 13 goals and tallied four assists for 30 points in 22 games played.
Allaband led the team with nine assists in 2012. She added two goals for 13 points while starting all 19 games. For her career she has two goals, 15 assists and 19 points in 36 games played.
The field hockey Dukes open their season 2013 schedule on Aug. 30 at home against Kent State.
