LYNCHBURG, Va., April 10, 2013 – Senior Ryan Pool (Melbourne, Australia/Braemar (Chattanooga)) clinched the final road win of the season for James Madison men’s tennis with a come-from-behind three-set win (3-6, 6-3, 6-2) at No. 1 singles.  The Dukes defeated the Liberty Flames 5-2 at the Hershey Tennis Courts Wednesday afternoon.

JMU advanced its 2013 record to 7-10 while Liberty dropped to 10-10 this spring.

The Dukes pulled off the doubles point, winning at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles after falling 8-2 at No. 2 doubles.  Seniors Bastien Russo (Lyon, France/Notre Dame des Minimes (Shorter)) and Florent Sentenac (Borderes, France/Lycee Theophile Gautier (Auburn Montgomery)) took down Siim Tuus and Guillem Secanell 8-4 at No. 3 before Pool and freshman Robert Stirling (Caboolture, Australia/St. Columbans College) battled for the 9-7 win over Shea Thomas and Egon Samaai at No. 1.

Samaai tied the match at 1-all with a two-set win (6-1, 6-3) over freshman Maxi Branth (Stockholm, Sweden/Tullinge Gymnasium) at No. 6 singles.  Senior Greg Vladimirsky (Staten Island, N.Y./Broward Virtual) regained the lead for JMU with a 6-2, 6-4 win against Dillon Segur at No. 3 singles, but Jorge Azuero knotted the match again with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Stirling at No. 4 singles.

Sentenac picked up the third JMU win of the day after dropping Secanell in two sets (7-5, 6-4) at No. 5 singles.  Senior Hugo Ramadier (Paris, France/Lycee Francais Chateabriand (Northern Arizona)) notched the fifth win of the day with a three-set victory (6-2, 3-6, 7-5) over Tuus at No. 2 singles.

JMU will play its final regular season match of the year Friday, April 12 as the Dukes host Howard at Hillside Courts.  Match play begins at 2:30 p.m.
