BUFFALO, N.Y., March 10, 2012 – All three James Madison advanced to the finals and finished in the top 13 overall on the three-meter board on day two of the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships in Buffalo, N.Y., on Saturday.
As she was on the one-meter board, junior Kimberly Helfrich (Fort Belvoir, Va./West Springfield) was the top finisher for the Dukes. She finished eighth with a total score of 550.95. The CAA three-meter diving champion scored a 272.15 in the prelims and followed that up with a 278.80 in the finals.
Senior Nicole Jotso (Suffern, N.Y./Suffern) placed right behind Helfrich in ninth with a score of 548.90, including a team-high 288.65 in prelims. The fourth-year Duke contributed a 260.25 in the finals to close out her collegiate diving career.
Freshman Alex Savage (Carrolton, Texas/Lewisville Hebron) closed out an excellent rookie season by finishing 13th. She compiled a total score of 525.75, adding a 268.10 in the prelims and a 257.65 in the finals.
Connecticut’s Danielle Cecco won the three-meter event with a score of 643.05. She was followed in second by Virginia Tech’s Logan Kline (613.50) while Maryland’s Alisa Kurbatova came in third (607.30). Virginia Tech rounded out the top five as Kelli Stockton claimed fourth (583.80) and Kaylea Arnett took fifth (566.00).
