RICHMOND, Va., Dec. 12, 2011 – James Madison senior diver Nicole Jotso (Suffern, N.Y./Suffern) was named the Colonial Athletic Association Diver of the Week on Tuesday. This is the second time this season Jotso has won the weekly honor and the fourth time it’s been claimed by a member of the JMU diving team.
Jotso won the award after helping the Dukes finish fourth at last weekend’s Big Al Invitational. She finished first on the one-meter board and third on the three-meter board. In the one-meter event, the senior scored a 275.90 in the preliminaries to qualify first before adding to her score with a 284.95 in the finals. She qualified fourth in the three-meter board with a score of 259.85, but improved one spot to third in the finals by scoring a 290.55.
Old Dominion’s Danielle Naylor is the CAA Swimmer of the Week, sharing the weekly honors with Jotso.
JMU is off for the remainder of 2011, but will take a team trip during winter break for some training. The Dukes return to the pool on Jan. 14 as they host VMI, Georgetown and American at Savage Natatorium for a four-team dual meet.
