RICHMOND, Va., Feb. 8, 2011 – James Madison junior diver Nicole Jotso (Suffern, N.Y./Suffern) was named the Colonial Athletic Association co-Diver of the Week on Tuesday. It is the fourth consecutive week a JMU diver has won the award.
Jotso helped the Dukes to a 145-94 win over Marshall last weekend by winning both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events. She scored a 307.43 on the 1-meter and a 305.18 on the 3-meter. The junior from Suffer, N.Y. has won the 3-meter event four times this season and has not finished worse than third in either dive in any of the Dukes’ dual meets this season.
Jotso is the third different JMU diver to claim the conference’s weekly award this season, joining senior Jessie Everett (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) and sophomore Kimberly Helfrich (Fort Belvoir, Va./West Springfield). Helfrich won the award in each of the previous three weeks.
Towson’s Caroline Baker shared the diving honors with Jotso while UNC Wilmington’s Carly Tanner was named the Swimmer of the Week.
JMU swimming and diving is off for the next two weeks as it prepares for the CAA Swimming and Diving Championships held at the Jim McKay Natatorium in Fairfax, Va. beginning Feb. 23.
