HOFSTRA SCOUTING REPORT
♦ The Pride moved over .500 on Thursday
when Hofstra defeated Drexel 53-43. Hofstra is now 12-11 overall and 8-4 in the Colonial
Athletic Association, holding steady in fourth place. Hofstra has won three of its last four and is 5-1 at home in league play.
♦
Senior forward Shante Evans is the offensive leader for the Pride, averaging 17.3
points per game on 49.7 percent shooting.
Since her last visit to the JMU Convocation Center, she became the first
Hofstra player to eclipse the 2,000 mark for career points. She is also grabbing a league-leading 11.5
rebounds per outing to give her 15 double-doubles this season.
♦ Junior
forward Anma Onyeuku pulled down a career-high
15 rebounds in the win over Drexel on Feb. 14.
She owns a 54.8-percent shooting average, dropping 10.4 points per game
as the only other member of the Pride to regularly post double-digit points.
♦ Sophomore
guard Andreana Thomas tops the
Hofstra line-up and the CAA in assists (6.5).
Senior guard Candace Bond
has the top steals average (2.8) in the conference, accounting for a fourth of
the Pride's thefts each game (10.5).
♦ With a 68-56 win at Old Dominion on Feb. 17, the Dukes moved to 16-8 on the season and 10-2 in conference games, including a perfect 6-0 CAA record on the road. JMU sits in sole possession of second place in the CAA, just two games behind #20/23 Delaware.
♦ JMU is currently just out of the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major poll, just four points behind No. 25 San Diego (West Coast Conference). Five Dukes' opponents are ranked in the poll, including conference foes Delaware (1) and Drexel (23).
♦ Junior Kirby Burkholder and freshman Precious Hall are two players opponents least want to send to the charity stripe. Burkholder is shooting 90.2 percent from the free throw line, sinking 74 of 82 attempts for the second-best average in the league. Hall is just behind her in third place, making 86.4 percent of her shots from the line.
♦ Sophomore Toia Giggetts pulled down a career-high 17 rebounds at Old Dominion, 10 of which came on the offensive end of the floor. Her 17 total rebounds are the most since Lauren Jimenez ('11) grabbed 17 on Dec. 18, 2010 at Monmouth, but her 10 offensive boards are the most since Kisha Stokes grabbed 11 on Dec. 10, 2007. Giggetts also posted 10 points for the Dukes to notch her third career double-double and her second this season.
♦ The Dukes lead the CAA in scoring offense (68.5) and are defeating opponents by an average of 10.2 points per game. A large part of the game plan is cleaning the offensive glass, pulling down a league-leading 16.6 offensive boards per game.
