HARRISONBURG, Va.—Following the Oct. 12 passing of its Friends of Jaclyn adoptee, Elle Howdershell, JMU lacrosse in conjunction with football and other athletics offices, set out to create a special day for the family. On Nov. 16 Elle father, Brian, and her brother, Brian, made the trip to James Madison University to attend the football game against Stony Brook with surprises in store.
Upon their arrival, the Howdershell’s were given JMU football shirts. The younger Brian was specially presented with a JMU football helmet signed by each player on the team. Prior to the start of the game, the two Howdershell’s visited the Plecker Athletics Performance Center where they met up with football head coach Mickey Matthews. Matthews led them to the field where they took pictures and toured the stadium. Brian was later invited to be part of the official coin toss ceremony.
