This Week
:  JMU continues a stretch of games against nationally-ranked teams.  The Dukes travel to No. 12 Virginia on March 21 (7 p.m.) before hosting No. 4 Maryland on March 24 (4 p.m.).

Scouting Virginia:  The Atlantic Coast Conference member has a 4-4 record with all four of its losses coming against opponents ranked in the top 14 in the latest IWLCA poll (#4 Maryland, #3 North Carolina, #9 Penn State, #14 Princeton).  The Cavaliers are ranked No. 12 in the latest IWLCA poll.

The Series vs. Virginia:  Virginia leads the series 27-13-1, but the Dukes have claimed wins in the last two meetings.  The Dukes beat Virginia 10-9 in 2010 in Charlottesville for JMU's first win against the Cavaliers in nine years.  JMU followed that with a 16-14 home win in Harrisonburg in 2011.

Scouting Maryland
The 2010 NCAA champion and 2011 NCAA runner-up Terps, who compete in the ACC, take a 7-2 record into a March 20 home game vs. Stony Brook.  Maryland's two losses have been by a single goal:  10-9 to Syracuse and 10-9 at No. 6 Duke.

The Series vs. Maryland:
  Maryland holds a 34-3 lead in the series against the Dukes and has beaten JMU the last four seasons, including a 17-8 win in College Park last season.  The teams played yearly from 1974-2003 and then did not meet for four seasons.  JMU's three triumphs over the Terps occurred in 1976 (11-4), 2002 (11-10) and 2003 (9-8).

Healy CAA Rookie of Week:  Freshman goalkeeper Schylar Healy was named the CAA Rookie of the Week for the week ending March 18.
     In her first career start, Healy made 13 saves and picked up two ground balls as the 20th-ranked Dukes beat 13th-ranked Loyola 11-6.  The March 17 win on JMU's home field improved the Dukes' record to 4-3.


Ancarrow, Zabel Lead CAA:  Redshirt junior Casey Ancarrow and senior Monica Zabel are the CAA leaders in goals, points and assists.  Ancarrow is the goals leader at 2.86 per game, and Zabel is tops in points (3.86) and assists (2.43).
     Zabel ranks ninth in the NCAA in total assists (17) and 15th in assist average.

Zabel Third All-Time in Assists:  Senior Monica Zabel had four assists last week to increase her career assist total to 89.  She is in third place on JMU's career list.  Megan Riley ('99) holds the Dukes' career record of 109, and Natasha Fuchs ('08) ranks second with 101.

Chakrian in Top Eight in Draw Controls:  Senior Cally Chakrian remains in eighth place on JMU's career draw controls list with 112.  Ahead of her in seventh place is Lisa Staedt ('03), who had 117 in her JMU career.  Gail Decker ('04) holds the school record of 164.

Ancarrow Continues Steady Numbers on Attack:  Redshirt junior attacker Casey Ancarrow has either a goal or an assist in each of her 50 career games.
