Ancarrow (Jarrettsville, Md./John Carroll) has been selected
the Colonial Athletic Association women's lacrosse Player of the Week for the
week ending March 3.
The Dukes attacker scored a total of eight goals
in JMU's wins over Virginia Tech and Fairfield.
Ancarrow tallied a game-high five goals in a 9-8 win at Virginia Tech on Feb.
27. She took only six shots in the game and also controlled a game-high four
draws.
She then scored three goals on only four shots and had an assist for a
game-high four points in a 13-8 home win over Fairfield on March 2. Ancarrow also had two ground balls and two
draw controls in the contest.
She leads the CAA and is tied for seventh in the NCAA with a goals per game
average of 4.0.
Her performance last week gave Ancarrow career totals of 130 goals, 50 assists
and 180 points. She moved from 14th to
ninth on JMU's career goals list and is only 10 goals away from sole possession
of sixth place. Among the players
Ancarrow passed last week was her coach, Shelley Klaes-Bawcombe (JMU '97), who scored
125 career goals.
She also moved from 13th to 11th on the career points list and is only five
points away from sole possession of ninth place.
JMU is off to a 3-0 start for the third time in the last four years. The Dukes' next game is at 10th-ranked Penn
State on March 6.
