HARRISONBURG, Va., February 11, 2013 -- The Colonial Athletic Association Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will hold its first conference-wide Food Drive Challenge in an effort to stop hunger.

James Madison senior volleyball player Danielle Erb actually came up with the idea last year when the volleyball Dukes hosted a canned food drive to benefit the Blue Ridge Food Bank.

"Blue Ridge Food Bank was so thankful that I thought that it would really cool to make it a competition between the schools in the CAA. There is nothing more satisfying in life than giving back to people when you yourself are so blessed," said Erb.

The Dukes will be collecting canned food on February 15. Collection bins can be found on the first floor of Godwin, the Athletic Performance Center, Warren Hall and Festival.

CAA Commissioner Tom Yeager will announce the winner in March and will present the winning school with a trophy.

"The CAA Food Bank Challenge is another example of our student-athletes donating their time and energy to make positive contributions on campus and in the community," said CAA Commissioner Tom Yeager. "We hope people will support their efforts and contribute to this worthwhile initiative to help fight hunger."
