As a freshman:

  • Shared JMU's team Rookie of the Year honors
  • Ranked ninth in the CAA for relief appearances with 25
  • Within the 30-game league schedule, ranked 11th in the CAA in earned run average (3.69), fourth in appearances (15), sixth for fewest hits allowed (35), third for fewest earned runs allowed (13), sixth fewest walks allowed (11) and third fewest doubles allowed (5)
  • Moved to eighth in JMU history for season pitching appearances with 25
  • JMU debut with one inning of relief against Coastal Carolina
  • Following Lafayette's rally with five runs to tie, shut down the Leopards for three innings before JMU rallied to win, giving first career victory
  • Limited Georgia State to one run on three hits with season-high four strikeouts in season high 3 2/3 innings in series opener
  • 1 2/3 scoreless innings of relief in Delaware finale
  • Tossed a 1-2-3 ninth in 3-2 win over Northeastern for first career save
  • Followed the next day with another perfect ninth in NU finale
  • Earned second save with 1 2/3 innings and two strikeouts in ODU opener and followed the next day with the win after allowing one unearned run in two innings as JMU rallied for a 10th-inning triumph
  • Worked 3 1/3 innings and allowed an unearned run to earn third victory of the season in middle game at Hofstra
  • Made first collegiate start in emergency fashion in Mason finale with career-high five innings pitched
  • Was a late summer signing in the Cape Cod League and helped the Wareham Gatemen to a title with no earned runs and seven strikeouts in six innings.  Began the 2012 summer with the Staunton Braves in the Valley League with a 4.35 ERA in 16 appearances with a .226 opponent average and 19 strikeouts in 20 2/3 innings.

Before JMU:

  • Played for head coach Vic Spotts at Fort Defiance High School
  • Indians captured four straight Southern Valley District championships and captured 2010 Region III title to reach state semifinals
  • For his high school career, Huffman went 16-2 with an ERA under two
  • Represented West squad in 7-5 loss to East during Virginia High School Coaches Association All-Star Game July 13, 2011 at Christopher Newport University
  • As a senior First Team All-Region III as a shortstop and Second Team as a pitcher
  • Two-time Southern Valley District Player of the Year as a shortstop and pitcher
  • Member of South Team for Best of the Valley All-Star Game as a senior
  • Went 7-1 in 2011 as a senior with 76 strikeouts, 12 walks, 1.17 ERA and .190 opponent batting average in 54 innings
  • As a junior hit .479 with 33 RBIs while going 7-1 on the mound with a 2.55 ERA and six complete games
  • Also First Team All-District and All-Region as both a shortstop and pitcher as a junior and went on to earn All-State as a shortstop
  • As a sophomore First Team All-District and honorable mention All-Region III as a shortstop while hitting .450 with 15 RBIs.
  • Also played for head coach Mike Myers and the Carolina Cubs and played at 17-U World Wood Bat Tournament
  • Won bronze medal at Commonwealth Games
  • Also lettered in football and basketball at Fort Defiance
  • Honor roll student
  • Played the summer of 2011 for the Broadway Bruins in the Rockingham County Baseball League.
