James Madison University takes on the Richmond Spiders this Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in the 31st meeting of the two schools. The game has grown into a spirited rivalry for fans and teams alike. This Saturday also marks another tradition, in the form of the annual Dukes Tackle Cancer game presented by University Outpost.
Dukes Tackle Cancer is the cancer awareness campaign presented by JMU Athletics and University Outpost Bookstore. Many people are familiar with cancer awareness ribbons, such as the pink ribbon, which represents the important fight against breast cancer. What many do not realize is that there is a colored ribbon to represent the fight against nearly every type of cancer. The Dukes Tackle Cancer campaign is unique in that it pulls together all these cancer-specific ribbons to highlight the need to raise awareness and encourage all Dukes in every community to tackle cancer.
At halftime of the game, JMU students will be participating in a balloon release recognizing survivors and those battling cancer while remembering those who have lost their battle against cancer.
JMU Athletics and University Outpost encourage fans to pick a color and support a Cancer cause. Fans can pick up their official Dukes Tackle t-shirts at www.universityoutpost.com. A list of available colors and their corresponding representation is below.
JMU fans will all be playing for a victory this Saturday, but all fans will be fighting and even bigger fight against Cancer.
