HARRISONBURG, Va., April 23, 2012 – James Madison field hockey’s Lindsay Cutchins (Suffolk, Va./Lakeland) was a finalist for JMU’s 2011-12 Gary '81 & Fredericka (Cookie) McCollum JMU Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year award.
The award winners and finalists were recognized Monday evening at the annual JMU student-athlete awards banquet.
Cutchins, a senior back last fall, was a three-year starter of the field hockey team. She is a six-time JMU Dean’s List student and has twice been recognized on the National Field Hockey Coaches Association National Academic Squad. Cutchins has also earned CAA Commissioner’s Academic Award and has been a JMU Athletic Director Scholar-Athlete in each of her four years at JMU.
On the field, the senior appeared in 72 games, starting 58 of them. She scored 13 career goals and added 19 assists for 45 points. She added on career game-winning goal and three defensive saves while providing a defensive anchor along the Dukes’ final line of defense.
The women’s tennis team’s Katherine Bulling was the recipient of the McCollum Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award. Track and Field’s Brittany Wilhelm and Cross Country’s Stacey Nobles were the other finalists.
