HARRISONBURG, Va., Nov. 18, 2010 - James Madison senior back Amy Daniel (Mountain Top, Pa./Crestwood) was named First Team All-Region in the South Region as the National Field Hockey Coaches Association announced the Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-Region Teams on Thursday.
Daniel earned her first All-Region selection of her career after leading the Colonial Athletic Association with 19 goals and 47 points. She also ranked seventh in the conference in shots (73), sixth in assists (nine) and tied for sixth in game-winning goals (three) while being named to the All-CAA First Team. Her 47 points is the 10th most in school history for a single season while her 19 goals also ranks 10th for a season. In addition to her offensive success, Daniel played a pivotal role in the middle of a JMU defense that allowed just 1.75 goals per game while also being the team's primary striker on penalty corners.
Daniel was one of 16 players voted to the South Region First Team and one of 14 All-Region honorees from the CAA.
The 2010 Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-American Teams will be announced on Monday, Nov. 22.
