HARRISONBURG, Va., Sept. 28, 2010 - James Madison redshirt freshman field hockey player Rachel Wein (Perryville, Md./Perryville) was named the Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Week for the week ending Sept. 26.

Wein played in all three of JMU's games and helped it to a 3-0 showing last week.  She recorded two points on one goal while also registering four shots on goal.  It was the second career goal for Wein who also scored in Madison's 5-0 win over Richmond.

On the season, Wein has appeared in all 11 games for the Dukes.  She has recorded two goals and one assist for five points.  She has one game-winning goal and has had nine of her 11 shots reach goal.

Last week the Dukes went 3-0, picking up a 3-2 win over in-state rival Longwood before starting CAA play with wins at Towson (3-2) and Delaware (7-1).  JMU is 6-5 overall and 2-0 in conference play.

This week JMU, which is receiving votes in the Kookaburra/National Field Hockey Coaches Association poll, will host a pair of games against conference rivals.  On Friday, the Dukes play host to Hofstra at 7 p.m. before welcoming in No. 20 Drexel on Sunday for a 1 p.m. game.
