RICHMOND, Va., Sept. 24, 2013 – Redshirt sophomore Taylor West (Princess Anne, Md./Pocomoke) earned her second Colonial Athletic Association field hockey Player of the Week distinction for her play in James Madison’s victories over VCU and Appalachian State, the league announced Tuesday.
West notched her second hat trick of the season in the 4-0 win over VCU on Wednesday, Sept. 18, and powered in two more goals in Sunday’s 7-0 victory over Appalachian State. Over the two-game home stand, she posted five goals and 12 points to help.
This is the second CAA honor for West this season as she earned the weekly accolade for the week ending Sept. 3. following her first hat trick of the season. Overall, West has 10 goals and 23 points through eight games in 2013, more than the top performers of both 2011 and 2012 in entire seasons.
Drexel’s Elise DiDonato also earned co-CAA Player of the Week distinction after scoring a goal and five assists in two road games for the Dragons last week.
JMU field hockey heads to Charlottesville, Va., on Wednesday, Sept. 25, for a 6 p.m. showdown against No. 4 Virginia.
