HARRISONBURG, Va., May 28, 2012 – James Madison field hockey rising senior Jenna Taylor (Midlothian, Va./James River) and rising sophomore Dana Allaband (Elkton, Md./Rising Sun) were selected to their respective region’s High Performance Travel Squads for the upcoming Regional Tournament.
Taylor was named to the South squad while Allaband was selected to play for the Pennsylvania team. The High Performance Regional tournament takes place June 1-8 at the University of Maryland with each team playing five games. Members of the U.S. National Team will be divided up to play within the High Performance Regional Teams.
Taylor and Allaband were two of six Madison players selected to participate in the High Performance training squads held two weeks ago at regional sites.
USA Field Hockey’s High Performance Training Centers identify and train potential National Team athletes through comprehensive training and skill enhancement sessions, as well as premier-level competitions. High Performance Centers allow athletes to train in regional areas close to their homes by some of the country’s top coaches.
Tournament play is divided into two pools of four teams each. Each team will play the other three teams in this pool prior to playing a pair of championship round games. Both Allaband’s Pennsylvania squad and Taylor’s South squad will compete in pool B. They will square off against each on June 4 in a 4 p.m. game.
