 Game Notes:

  • As the top seed James Madison will host both semifinal games. Northeastern will play William & Mary at 3 p.m., and the Dukes will host Hofstra at 6 p.m.
  • The Dukes and the Pride tied 2-2 at Hofstra in the regular season finale.
  • The Dukes are third in the latest NSCAA Mid-Atlantic regional rankings. They are the highest-ranked team from the CAA.
  • JMU has six players with at least three goals, led by junior Katie Hyland with seven.
  • Hofstra's Sam Scolarici leads the CAA with 17 goals.

 Game Notes:

  • JMU enters the 2013-14 season as the preseason favorites in the Colonial Athletic Association. The Dukes return three starters, including CAA Preseason Player of the Year in senior guard Kirby Burkholder as well as 2013 CAA Rookie of the Year in sophomore guard Precious Hall.
  • JMU is 7-3 in season opening games under Head Coach Kenny Brooks.
  • JMU and Virginia have met 22 times in the series history with UVA holding a 15-7 lead in the all-time series. JMU has won three of the last five meeting, but the Cavaliers won 78-57 in Charlottesville to open up the 2012-13 season.

 Game Notes:

  • JMU will open for the fifth time in six years under head coach Matt Brady against a nationally-ranked team but for the first time in 19 years as a defending conference champion
  • Sixth-year senior and graduate student Andrey Semenov returns after missing all but seven games last year due to injury. He scored 28 points in JMU's exhibition win on Sunday vs. Philadelphia.
  • Sophomores Ron Curry, Charles Cooke and Taylor Bessick will each play key roles leading the youngest team by average class year in all of Division I and the youngest in program history.
  • JMU is 0-8 all-time against Virginia with just one meeting in the last 30 years, a 10-point loss in 2003. It will be the fifth game for JMU against a ranked UVA squad and the first appearance for the Dukes in John Paul Jones Arena.

  • JMU went 1-1 last week at home, beating Hofstra 3-0 on Friday evening before falling to Northeastern, also 3-0.
  • JMU can clinch a spot in the CAA Championship this weekend with a win over the Tribe or a loss by Delaware against Towson.
  • Freshman right side Janey Goodman comes into the weekend with 290 kills on the season. She's looking to be the first Madison freshman to collect more than 300 kills in a season since Danielle Erb had 315 in 2009.
  • JMU and W&M are squaring off for the 77th time this weekend with the Dukes trailing the all-time series 41-35. JMU has won four of the last five meetings in the series, including a 3-2 win in Harrisonburg earlier this season.

  • James Madison will go on the road for another key Colonial Athletic Association match up, traveling to Durham, N.H., to take on the New Hampshire Wildcats.
  • This will be the 15th time that James Madison and New Hampshire will meet on the gridiron, with each team having grabbed seven victories. The Wildcats have won the last two meetings between the two programs, having won at home in 2011 and in Bridgeforth in 2010.
  • Senior defensive tackle Jordan Stanton leads the team with 6.0 sacks, while redshirt-senior linebacker Stephon Robertson leads with a career-best 15.5 tackles for loss.
