RICHMOND, Va., March 19, 2013 - The Colonial Athletic Association recognized senior Ryan Pool (Melbourne, Australia/Braemar (Chattanooga)) and freshman Robert Stirling (Caboolture, Australia/St. Columbans College) Tuesday afternoon as the men's tennis Doubles Team of the Week for their play at Delaware on March 16.
Pool and Stirling won their second league doubles match of the spring when they took down the Blue Hens' Troy Beneck and Adam Lawton 8-6 in the No. 2 position. The pair helped seal the doubles point for the Dukes en route to a 5-2 victory, moving JMU to 2-0 in CAA play and 4-6 overall this spring.
Pool, who already has men's tennis Player of the Week honors this season (Feb. 19), credited a second point for JMU at Delaware when he defeated Beneck 6-3, 7-6(4) in the No. 1 position, his sixth victory this spring. Stirling won at the No. 4 position over Mike Furr in two sets (6-2, 6-4) for his fifth victory of 2013.
The Dukes venture to Longwood on March 22 for a 2:30 p.m. match against the Lancers before heading home for an 11 a.m. clash against UMBC on March 24.
