WASHINGTON, D.C., March 15, 2013 - The James Madison women's tennis team won its third straight match as the Dukes downed the Georgetown Hoyas 5-2 on Friday afternoon.  They started the day off taking the doubles point before taking four of six singles points.

The trip to Georgetown wraps up a 10-match road slate for JMU.  Over the stretch, JMU has gone 5-4 overall.  The win snapped the Hoyas' two-match win streak, and they fall to 7-4 this spring.

Sophomore Taylor Pinchoff (Sylvan Lake, Mich./West Bloomfield) and senior Michelle Nguyen (Springfield, Va./South County) notched the first win of the day as they took down Kelly Comolli and Victoria Sekely 8-2 at the No. 1 doubles position.  The duo is now 6-2 in duals this spring and has won their last three matches.

Freshman Cara Wirth (Reading, Pa./Wilson) and senior Katherine Bulling (Loveland, Ohio/Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy) solidified the doubles point for JMU with an 8-5 win over Liz Hamlin and Madeline Jaeger at the No. 2 position.  Wirth and Bulling are now 7-2 this spring as a team and have won their last three matches.

Sekely evened the match with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Pinchoff at the No. 1 slot to start singles play.  Junior Ruxandra Andriescu (Brampton, Ontario, Canada/Turner Fenton), however, grabbed a two-set win (6-4, 6-4) over Jaeger at the No. 3 position to give the Dukes the lead again at 2-1.

Bulling extended the JMU lead after battling for the point at the No. 4 position.  She took a one-set lead over Sophie Panarese with a 6-4 win before the Hoya won set two 6-4.  Bulling took control of the match and won 6-3 in decisive set three, extending her personal win streak to four matches.  She is now 7-1 in spring duals.

Senior Megan Douglass (Wilton, Conn./St. Luke's) put the match away for the Dukes when she defeated Taylor Perz 6-1, 6-4 in the No. 6 slot and upped her spring record to 5-2.  Junior Jacqueline Palmucci (Aurora, Colo./Cherokee Trail) gave JMU an insurance point when she took down Comolli after a three-set clash (6-4, 6-7, 7-6).

Wirth saw her undefeated streak of nine matches come to an end on Friday as she lost to Hamlin 6-2, 6-4 at the No. 5 position.

JMU will host its first home match of 2013 next weekend as the Dukes welcome UMBC on Saturday, March 23 for a 2 p.m. bout.
