ORLANDO, Fla. - Behind a doubles sweep and five two-set victories, the James Madison women's tennis team picked up the 6-1 win over Toledo in a neutral-court match on Wednesday afternoon.  With the win, the Dukes move to an even 4-4 this spring, and the Rockets fall to 5-8.

Sophomore Taylor Pinchoff (Sylvan Lake, Mich./West Bloomfield) and senior Michelle Nguyen (Springfield, Va./South County) started things off for JMU with an 8-4 triumph over Lexy Pitt and Emily Mazzola at the No. 1 position.  Freshman Cara Wirth (Reading, Pa./Wilson) and senior Katherine Bulling (Loveland, Ohio/Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy) clinched the doubles point for the Dukes with an 8-5 victory over Katelyn Nguyen and Silvia Carvajal at the No. 2 position.

The junior duo of Jacqueline Palmucci (Aurora, Colo./Cherokee Trail) and Ruxandra Andriescu (Brampton, Ontario, Canada/Turner Fenton) notched a fourth-straight doubles win on Wednesday when they defeated Mackenzie Bowman and Pia Rygh 8-7 at the No. 3 position.  Overall, the Dukes have won 78.9 percent of their doubles matches this spring.

Pinchoff snapped a three-match singles losing streak Wednesday as she tallied a 6-2, 6-0 win for JMU and picked up a second point for JMU.  Wirth gave the Dukes their third point with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Pitt, moving her dual record to 6-0.  The freshman has won her last nine singles matches in her first collegiate season.

The Dukes' victory over the Rockets was sealed by Palmucci at the No. 2 position when she took down Toledo's Nguyen 6-2, 6-1.

Bulling stretched her win streak to three matches with a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Mazzola at the No. 4 position.  Senior Megan Douglass (Wilton, Conn./St. Luke's) registered a final point for Madison when she defeated Carvajal 6-3, 6-1 at the No. 6 slot.

At the No. 3 position, Andriescu fell to Chrissy Coffman in the lone match to go three sets.  Coffman won set one 6-3 before Andriescu battled back for a 6-3 win in set two to force a decisive set three.  Coffman posted the Rockets' only point when she scored a 10-2 victory in the final set of the day.

JMU next hits the road on Thursday, March 14 for a showdown at Georgetown.  First serve is at 2:30 p.m.
