RICHMOND, Va., Dec. 9, 2013 – James Madison women’s basketball’s junior forward Toia Giggetts (Norfolk, Va./Lake Taylor) earned Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week honors for the third time in her career, the league announced Monday afternoon.
Giggetts posted a career-high 23 points off a personal-best 10 made field goals (10-15) in the Dukes’ 71-61 win at Pittsburgh on Dec. 4 to lead three Dukes in double figures. She also tallied six rebounds, three assists and one steal over 28 minutes of play in her fourth start of the season.
Over the last three games, the forward has averaged a team-leading 16.7 points per game. Her 23 points against the Panthers signified her sixth straight double-figure scoring performance.
For the season, Giggetts is the Dukes’ third-leading scorer as she averages 11.8 points per outing on 52.1-percent shooting from the field. She is also JMU’s second-leading rebounder, snagging 5.5 boards per game.
The Dukes travel to the St. John’s Chartwells Holiday Classic in Queens, N.Y., Dec. 14-15 for their first games after a 10-day break for final exams. JMU faces Prairie View A&M at Carnesecca Arena on Saturday, Dec. 14 at 2:30 p.m.
