SCOUTING UNCW
♦ The Seahawks sit at 2-18 overall and
are just 1-8 in the CAA, their lone league win coming on Jan. 8 at William
& Mary (61-52). UNCW currently sits
in a tie for ninth place with George Mason on the CAA leaderboard.

This season only six Seahawks are
seeing significant playing time. The top
players for UNCW see the court between 25.6 minutes and 36.7 minutes per game. No other player in the lineup tops 13.8
minutes.

Four UNCW players are averaging at
least 9.0 points per game. Redshirt
junior guard Jessica Freeman is
leading the way with 10.2 ppg as well as committing a team-leading 2.7
steals. Senior guard Tawanna Lee is the long-range threat of
the team, knocking down 37.8 percent of her shots from 3-point distance to
boast her scoring average to 9.8.

Senior forward Karneshia Garrett is tops on the team with rebounds, pulling down
10.6 boards per game. She also leads the
team with 16 blocks this season while contributing 10.1 points per game. Sophomore guard Kelva Atkins rounds out the top scorers for the team with a 9.0
average, in addition to leading the team with 2.6 assists each outing.
JMU FAST BREAK
♦ The Dukes are on a seven-game win
streak and have won 11 of the last 12 games, including a 60-39 victory over the
Seahawks in their CAA opener. JMU sits
in sole possession of second place in the league standings with an 8-1 record,
one game back from Delaware and half of a game ahead of Drexel.

Head coach Kenny Brooks is now a perfect 10-0 on Super Bowl Sunday at the helm
of JMU women's basketball. The Dukes
staged a 15-point comeback on Feb. 3 at William & Mary to preserve the
record and are now 5-1 all-time against the Tribe on Super Bowl Sunday.
♦ Freshman Precious Hall is CAA Rookie of the Week
for the fourth time this season after posting a team-high 19 points in the
Dukes' win against the Tribe. The Rookie
of the Year candidate is averaging 9.0 points per game, shooting 38.2 percent
from the floor and knocking down 85.4 percent of her free throws. Her average scoring improves to 13.9 when
facing league opponents.

Fellow freshman Destiny Jones rose to the challenge of William & Mary when she
grabbed a career-high seven rebounds over 23 minutes of action, the most she
has seen in her career. She also started
the second half against the Tribe.

Team leaders Kirby Burkholder and Tarik
Hislop are approaching record scoring numbers. Burkholder is just 16 points away from the
800-point career mark, and she is averaging 16.6 ppg when facing CAA foes. Hislop, averaging 16.1 ppg overall, needs
four points to hit the 1,600-career point mark and 11 points to pass Holly
Rilinger (1,607 pts) for fifth place on JMU's career points list.
