James Madison women's basketball coach Kenny Brooks returns for his 11th season at the helm, coming off a 29-8 season in 2011-12.  Four starters from the 2012 WNIT runner-up squad will be back in the line-up, and they will be joined by ESPN's top mid-major conference recruiting class.

Head men's basketball coach Matt Brady also returns for his fifth season at JMU for the 2012-13 season.  The Dukes will look to rebound from a 12-20 season in 2011-12 after being plagued by significant injuries for most of the year.  Madison will welcome back three of its top four scorers from last year and boasts a talented group of five newcomers along with the most fifth-year players in the country (5).

The women's squad will play an exhibition game on Nov. 3 at 4 p.m. against Lenoir-Ryhne in the Convocation Center before heading east on I-64 for its season-opener at Virginia on Nov. 9 at 7 p.m.  The men's team will host its own exhibition on Oct. 28 at 2 p.m. against Philadelphia before opening the season at UCLA on Nov. 15 as a part of the Progressive Legends Classic.
