From CAA Reports

RICHMOND, Va., April 26, 2011 - The Colonial Athletic Association has released its basketball scheduling format for the next three seasons (2011-12 through 2013-14).

The new format features 18 conference games and is similar to the recently completed six-year schedule that was adopted prior to the 2005-06 campaign.

Each team was assigned five "permanent partners" that they play home and away during all three seasons (10 games).  The remaining six "non-permanent partners" rotate through a three-year cycle in which teams face two opponents at home, two opponents away and two opponents home and away (8 games) each year.

Each school submitted a list of five preferred permanent partners in rank order, with only the top choice guaranteed.  The CAA then utilized the services of Bortz Scheduling Group of Denver, Colo. to assign the other partners.  Each school received a minimum of three of its five preferred permanent partner choices in the final schedule.

The CAA will release its basketball schedules for the 2011-12 season in early September.

JMU's "permanent partners," whom the Dukes will play twice in each of the next three seasons, are George Mason, Hofstra, Old Dominion, Towson and Virginia Commonwealth.

In 2011-12 JMU will play Drexel and Georgia State home and away, Delaware and North Carolina Wilmington at home only, and Northeastern and William and Mary away only.

In 2012-13 JMU will play Delaware and William and Mary home and away, Georgia State and Northeastern at home only, and Drexel and North Carolina Wilmington away only.

In 2013-14 JMU will play North Carolina Wilmington and Northeastern home and away, Drexel and William and Mary at home only, and Delaware and Georgia State away only.
