INDIANAPOLIS, April 2, 2011 -- James Madison senior point guard Dawn Evans (Clarksville, Tenn./Northeast) isn't attending the NCAA women's basketball Final Four, but she's garnering some attention in the city that's hosting the event.

On Saturday Evans won Women's Basketball Coaches Association State Farm® All-America Honorable Mention.  The honor was announced during the WBCA's national convention, being held in Indianapolis.

Friday evening Evans was selected the "Shootaround Shooter of the Year" by announcers Beth Mowins and Debbie Antonelli.  The pair, who host a weekly podcast, "Shootaround with Beth and Debbie," announced the honor during a convention edition of the show.

The Dukes' point guard also was recognized Saturday in Indianapolis as a Lowe's Senior CLASS Award All-America Second Team selection.

The Lowe's Senior CLASS Award was presented to Connecticut senior Maya Moore.

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.

Evans concluded her JMU career as the all-time leading scorer in school and Colonial Athletic Association history with 2,667 points.  She led the Dukes to back-to-back CAA championships in 2010 and 2011, was named the tournament Most Outstanding Player at bouth of those championships, and was the 2011 CAA Player of the Year.
