LOS ANGELES, March 14, 2011 -- James Madison senior guard Dawn Evans (Clarksville, Tenn./Northeast) is among the 20 players selected for the national ballot for the John R. Wooden Award honoring the nation's top basketball player.

The ballots were sent out Monday by The Los Angeles Athletic Club to nearly 1,000 members of the media who cover college basketball.  Players on the ballot were selected by the Wooden Award National Advisory Board.

The winner will be announced on April 8.

Evans, who is on the ballot for the second year in a row, was named the Most Outstanding Player at the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament after the Dukes beat Delaware 67-61 in Sunday's championship game.  She earned her second consecutive MOP honor as JMU won its second straight CAA Tournament championship.

Evans ranks second in NCAA Division I in scoring at 23.2 points per game.  She is JMU's and the CAA's all-time leading scorer with 2,647 points, and she holds more than 40 other school records.
