HARRISONBURG, Va.—The cheerleaders of James Madison University volunteered at United Way of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County’s second annual United Cup Games on Nov. 6 at Skyline Middle School. Teams from local businesses competed in games and a food drive to win the title of Live United Community Spirit Champion. The cheerleaders assisted with the games, t-shirt toss, raffles and cheered on the competing teams. The event served as a kick-off for United Way’s 55th community impact campaign.
Teams competed in events which included ‘Basket Hot Shot’, ‘Rolling in the Dough’ and ‘United Way Team Trivia’. Points could also be earned by having fans show up to support a team or by donating canned food items for the annual Turkey Drive.
Last year’s community impact campaign brought in $1.1 million.
