3/9/12, The Show Place Arena, Upper Marlboro, Md. (CAA Quarterfinals): JMU 64, George Mason 54

The Patriots are 6-10 overall and 1-4 in Colonial Athletic Association action following a 60-51 loss to Northeastern on Jan. 22.  Mason's lone league win came at Towson, 65-54, on Jan. 17.
Senior guards Amber Easter and Rahneeka Saunders are averaging double-digit points when facing conference foes, 10.8 ppg and 10.2 ppg, respectively.  Saunders leads the squad in assists (2.8) and steals (2.8) in CAA games.
Sophomore Talisha Watts is first on the team in rebounds, averaging 6.8 boards per game.  As a unit, George Mason is currently pulling in 6.2 more rebounds than CAA opponents and has outrebounded its last three opponents by an average of 13.7 boards.
Mason is shooting 29.4 percent from 3-point range in conference play, making an average of 3.0 3-point field goals per game.  League opponents, however, are shooting 31.8 percent from beyond the arc and sinking 5.4 long-range shots per game.

The Dukes, since starting the season 3-6, have improved their record to 10-7 overall after winning seven of their last eight games.  In all seven victories, JMU has held its opponents to 52 or fewer points.
JMU is 4-1 in league play and sits in a tie for third place as the Dukes head into the heart of the conference slate.  When facing conference opponents, Madison leads the CAA in offensive rebounds per game (20.4) and 3-point field goal percentage (39.5).
Junior guard Kirby Burkholder surpassed the 700-point mark for her career on Jan. 20 in a 65-49 win at Georgia State.  She now has 705 points as a Duke, and nearly 60 percent of those points have come from beyond the arc.
Madison freshmen have been stuffing the stat sheet as of late for the Dukes.  Guard Angela Mickens tied career highs with eight points and four rebounds on Jan. 17 against William & Mary as well as generating a career-high four steals.  In the same game, forward Destiny Jones tied a career-high with five rebounds and guard Precious Hall tied a career-high with five assists.
Hall also posted career highs of 18 points and eight rebounds at Georgia State, increasing her league-play averages to 12.0 points per game and 4.6 rebounds per game.  She is also second on the team at the free-throw line (81.8%), assists (2.4) and steals (1.4) when facing conference opponents.
