RICHMOND, Va., Dec. 13, 2013 – Three James Madison cross country runners earned Colonial Athletic Association honors to close out the 2013 season. Freshmen Meghan Malloy (Haddonfield, N.J./Haddonfield Memorial) and Tessa Mundell (Mohnton, Pa./Governor Mifflin) received All-CAA honors while sophomore Jenna Flickinger (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) was named to the All-Academic squad.
The top-12 finishers at the 2013 CAA Cross Country Championships, hosted by Towson University on Nov. 2, earned All-CAA accolades. Malloy posted an 11th-place finish in the 6,000-meter race, crossing the line in 22:44.23. Mundell finished just behind her in 22:50.32 to take the 12th-place slot.
Flickinger, the JMU representative on the All-Academic team, is a graphic design major and boasts a 4.0 cumulative grade point average. She is a two-time CAA Commissioner’s Award recipient, two-time President’s List honoree and a JMU Athletic Director Scholar-Athlete. In 2013, she tallied top-14 finishes in four of the six meets she competed in, including a fourth-place finish at the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships to close out the season.
The Dukes open the indoor track & field season on Jan. 9 at the Navy Winter Invitational in Annapolis, Md.
