HARRISONBURG, Va. - James Madison University men's basketball head Coach Matt Brady and assistant Coach Rob O'Driscoll are competing for the second consecutive year in the Third Annual Shots from the Heart Tournament to benefit the Skip Prosser Foundation.

The Shots from the Heart tournament helps to create awareness for heart disease by working with CollegeInsider.com and the American Heart Association. First round shots were taken in January and the Free Throw Final will be held in April.

There are 64 coaches in the head coach's bracket as well as the assistant coach's bracket. This year is the first year that non-coaches like San Diego Chargers Tight End Antonio Gates and World and Olympic Track and Field Champion Ato Boldon were allowed to compete.

Each round is made up of 25 free throws with shots one through ten worth one point, 11 through 15 worth two points, 16 through 20 worth 3 points, 21 through 24 worth four points and shot 25 is worth 5 points. If both coaches finish the round with the same number of points tie-breakers determine the winner.

Coach Brady defeated Coach Greg McDermott of Creighton in the first round by the first tie-breaker rule. Both coaches made 24 of the 25 shots scoring 53 points; however Coach Brady made 18 consecutive free throws and Coach McDermott was one behind with 17 consecutive free throws.

In the second round, Coach Brady will face Coach B.J. Hill of Northern Colorado.

"Anything we can do as coaches to bring exposure to heart disease is worthwhile. It is such a great cause and by taking a few easy shots we can make a difference," said Coach Brady.

Coach O'Driscoll was eliminated after fellow CAA assistant coach, Jamie Kachmarik, of UNCW made all 25 free throws making the final score 56 to 49.
