GUADALAJARA, Mexico, Oct. 27, 2011 -- Former James Madison women's soccer player Christina "Corky" Julien ('10) has won a Pan American Games gold medal playing for Canada.

Canada beat Brazil 4-3 on penalty kicks Thursday night after regulation and overtime play ended in a 1-1 tie.  Canada's Christine Sinclair scored the tying goal in the 88th minute to force overtime.

Julien played every minute of regulation and the two overtime periods but was not among the five Canada players in the first and deciding round of PKs.

The former JMU All-America was the 2008 Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Year.  She completed her collegiate career ranked second on JMU's career goals list (44), second on the career points list (102) and tied 18th on the career assist list (14).  Julien scored a JMU-record 19 career game-winning goals.
