JMU wrapped up its home schedule with a split against CAA teams.  The Dukes lost 3-2 to league-leading and 20th-ranked William and Mary on Oct. 21 before holding off Old Dominion for a 3-2 win on Oct. 23.

Did You Know?  Four of the Dukes' seven losses have come to teams that have been ranked in the Top 25 this season (Virginia Tech, Georgetown, Penn, William and Mary.

Scouting Virginia Commonwealth:  The Rams have a 7-7-4 overall record and are 5-2-3 in league play.  VCU enters Friday's game riding an eight-game (5-0-3) unbeaten streak that includes a 1-0 win over league-leading William and Mary in the Rams' last outing on Oct. 23.
     VCU has outscored its opponents 12-2 during its eight-match unbeaten streak.
     The Rams opened CAA play with a 1-0 defeat at Hofstra but have not lost since.  VCU owns wins over Towson (4-0), UNC Wilmington (1-0), Georgia State (1-0), Old Dominion (4-1) and William and Mary (1-0).  The Rams have tied George Mason (0-0), Delaware (1-1) and Drexel (0-0).
     VCU was picked by the CAA coaches to finish tied for eighth in the 12-team league.

The Series with Virginia CommonwealthJMU leads the all-time series against the Rams 12-7-2, but VCU has won five of the last nine contests.  However, JMU has won the last two meetings, 2-1 in 2010 at JMU and 4-0 in 2009 at VCU.

CAA Standings:  With seven total games left in the CAA schedule, William and Mary has clinched first place in the CAA Standings.  As the top seed the Tribe will host the CAA Tournament on Nov. 3, 4 and 6. 
     VCU (5-2-3, 18 points) is second and has secured a berth in the six-team CAA Tournament.
     Only four points separate the number three through nine teams in the league standings.  Those seven teams are vying for the other four tournament berths.
     Tied for third are JMU (5-4-1, 16 points) and Northeastern, which also has a 5-4-1 record.
     In a two-way tie for fifth are George Mason and Hofstra (15 points).  In a two-way tie for seventh are Delaware and Drexel (14 points), and in ninth is Towson (12 points).
     The top six teams in the final league standings qualify for the CAA Championship tournament.  The number one and two seeds receive first-round byes, while the three through six seeds play first-round games on Nov. 3.  The semifinals are Nov. 4, and the final is Nov. 6.
     (NOTE:  In CAA play three points are awarded for a win and one point is awarded for a tie.)

National RankingsThree Dukes' opponents are ranked or are receiving votes in the latest national polls.  JMU's ranked or vote-getting opponents include Maryland, William and Mary and Virginia Tech.
     JMU received votes in the NSCAA poll for two weeks in September.
