beat Texas 3-1 in a Nov. 12 first-round match before losing to third-ranked and defending NCAA champion North Carolina 3-1 in a Nov. 14 second-round game. 

JMU's NCAA HistoryJMU made its third NCAA appearance in the last four years and its 10th appearance in the final 16 years.  The Dukes have won their first-round games in eight of their 10 NCAA Tournament appearances.
     JMU also advanced to the NCAA round of 16 in 1995 and 1996 and to the round of 32 in 1998, 1999, 2002 and 2007.  In 1997 JMU opened NCAA tournament play in the round of 32.  The other tournament appearance was in 2004.

Dukes Tie Unbeaten Streak Record
JMU's 3-1 NCAA Tournament first-round win over Texas extended the team's unbeaten streak to nine games (8-0-1).  That tied the school record originally set by the 2007 team, also with an 8-0-1 record.
     The streak, which began after a 2-1 overtime defeat at Georgia State on Oct. 8, ended with the NCAA Tournament second-round loss at third-ranked North Carolina on Nov. 14.

Double-Digit WinsJMU won 15 games this season, and that marked the fifth time in the program's 21-year history that the Dukes have won at least 15 matches.
     JMU has won at least 10 games 20 times in the program's history

JMU in the NCAA Stats:  In the latest
NCAA Statistics  (games through Nov. 14), Teresa Rynier ranks tied for fifth in total assists (13) and tied 11th in assists per game (0.57).

JMU in the CAA Stats:  In the final CAA Statistics (games through Nov. 14), Teresa Rynier was first in points (31), assists (13) and assist average (0.57) and is second in points average (1.35).   Diane Wszalek led the CAA in shutouts (8).

Goals:  Senior Cate Tisinger remains in sole possession of 11th but increased her total to 25 goals.  Senior Teresa Rynier remains in sole possession of 13th place with 20.

Assists:
  Rynier, who entered the 2010 season holding the school record for career assists with 40, boosted her career total to 53 with two assists in the NCAA first-round win over Texas.  That apparently is a CAA record, surpassing the 52 career assists by William and Mary's Missy Wycinsky (1996-99).
     Tisinger remains in sixth place with 24.

Points:  Rynier moved from fifth place to tied for fourth place by increasing her total to 93 points.  Tisinger increased her total to 74 and moved from tied for ninth place to tied for eighth place.

Saves:  Redshirt senior Diane Wszalek remains in third place, and her career total now stands at 322 saves.  Late in the regular season she passed Stacy Bilodeau (1994-97), who made 300 career stops.

Complete-Game (Solo) Shutouts:  Wszalek had eight shutouts in 2010 and ended her career with a school-record 24 career solo shutouts.  Earlier she broke the school record of 21 set by Jessica Hussey (2002-05). 

Total Shutouts (Solo & Shared):  With her shutout in the Dukes' 2-0 CAA championship win over Hofstra, Wszalek took sole possession of the school record with 30.  She previously shared the record of 29 with Stacy Bilodeau (1994-97) and Hussey (2002-05).  Both Bilodeau (1995) and Hussey (2002) were goalkeepers on JMU's previous two CAA champion teams.

Goals-Against Average:  Wszalek's career average of 1.128 breaks Cheryl Carr's (1991-94) school-record 1.129.
