CANCÚN, Mexico, Nov. 8, 2010 -- Former JMU women's soccer All-America Christina "Corky" Julien (JMU '10) saw playing time for Canada Monday night as her team beat Mexico 1-0 in the championship match CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying Tournament.
Canadian captain Christine Sinclair's sixth goal of the tournament in the 54th minute gave Canada the victory. The win capped a tournament in which the Canadian squad finished undefeated with a 5-0-0 record and outscored the opposition 17-0.
Julien entered Monday's match in the 83rd minute of play.
Canada, which had already qualified for the World Cup by making the finals of the CONCACAF Tournament, will make its fifth consecutive World Cup appearance. The 22-day football event will be held in nine cities across Germany beginning June 26 and concluding with a July 17 final in Frankfurt.
