Last Week:
JMU opened CAA play with a long road trip.  In a rematch of the 2010 CAA final, the Dukes came from behind for a 4-3 overtime win at Hofstra on Sept. 23.  JMU then lost 4-2 at Northeastern on Sept. 25.

This Week:
JMU continues CAA play with a home Sept. 29 game vs. Towson (6 p.m.) followed by a road game at George Mason on Oct. 2 (2 p.m.).  Live Stats (both games) 

Did You Know?  JMU's road trip to Hofstra and Northeastern last week included nearly 1,200 miles of travel to face the two northernmost opponents in the CAA. 

Scouting Towson:  The Tigers are 5-5-0 overall and 0-2-0 in league play after a CAA-opening 5-0 loss at William and Mary and a 2-1 road defeat at Old Dominion.  The match with JMU will be the fifth straight road game for the Tigers. 
     The Tigers were picked to finish tied for 10th in the CAA, as voted by the league's coaches.
     Towson fifth-year head coach Greg Paynter was an assistant with JMU for eight years (1999-2006 seasons) before joining the Tigers in 2007.

The Series with TowsonJMU has never lost to Towson and leads the all-time series 9-0.  Last season the Dukes won 2-1 at Towson and the previous season JMU won 3-2 in overtime in Harrisonburg.

Scouting George Mason:  The Patriots take a 3-4-3 overall record and an 0-1-1 CAA record into a Sept. 29 league game at Virginia Commonwealth.  George Mason opened conference play last week with a 4-4 tie at Old Dominion followed by a 3-1 loss at William and Mary.  The W&M loss ended a four-game (3-0-1) unbeaten streak that included a 3-2 home win over Penn.  Penn entered that game unbeaten and un-scored upon this season, a streak that included a 1-0 win over JMU.
     The Patriots were picked to finish fifth in the CAA, as voted by the league's coaches.

The Series with George MasonThe Dukes lead the all-time series 14-7-4 and have only lost once to the Patriots in the last 10 meetings (6-1-3 record).  JMU won the last regular-season meeting 3-0 in Harrisonburg in 2010, then tied the Patriots 1-1 in the 2010 CAA semifinals.  JMU advanced on penalty kicks in the CAA showdown and went on to beat Hofstra 2-0 to win the league title.
     Of the last 11 meetings, six have been decided by a single goal and three have ended in ties.

Win at Hofstra Breaks SkidThe Dukes' Sept. 23 4-3 overtime win at Hofstra ended a JMU winless streak of three games (0-2-1).  It also stopped a stretch of three matches, all against ranked opponents, in which the Dukes failed to score.

National RankingsFour Dukes' opponents are ranked or are receiving votes in the latest national polls.  JMU's ranked or vote-getting opponents include Maryland, Virginia Tech, Georgetown and William and Mary.
     JMU received votes in the NSCAA poll for two weeks in September.
