  • First JMU hits going 2-for-3 with two runs, RBI, walk and steal vs. Longwood, which started a 7-for-18 week with five hits against Bucknell
  • Made it five multiple-hit efforts in seven games with two in Lafayette opener and first three-hit game with three RBIs in middle game which he had the walk-off single in a 10-9 victory
  • 2-for-3 with two runs scored in UNCW opener
  • 2-for-3 with a walk in W&M second game
  • Double, first career triple, run and an RBI in W&M finale
  • Two hits and two of JMU's record-breaking 11 steals in Sunday win at Georgia State
  • Two hits with a double in each of the last two games vs. Delaware
  • Third straight game with multiple hits going 2-for-4 with sac bunt and run scored at UVA
  • Two hits with a double, walk, stolen base and season-high three runs scored in Northeastern finale
  • Delivered a two-run single in the ninth inning in Saturday ODU game to tie the score at 5-5 and send game into extra innings, where the Dukes rallied for the win
  • First career four-hit game in Hofstra opener with two RBI's
  • Five RBIs in VCU series, including three in the finale
  • Back-to-back two-hit games to close the season at Towson, including a 2-for-4 performance with a walk, three runs scored and his first career home run in the second-to-last game of the season
  • Spent summer 2012 with the Alaska Goldpanners in Fairbanks with a team-best 36 games played while ranking 19th in the league with a .305 average.  Fifth in the Alaska League with 12 steals and 27 runs and second on team with 40 hits while racking up seven doubles and 10 RBIs.

Before JMU:

  • Played for head coach Justin Janis and Oakton High School
  • As a senior, helped lead the Cougars (18-6) to the Concorde District title for the first time since 2006 with Carroll pitching the final inning and stealing four bases
  • Named to the Washington Post's 2011 All-Met Team as the First Team shortstop
  • Second Team All-State Group AAA, First Team All-Northern Region as a shortstop and the Concorde District Player of the Year
  • As a senior hit .465 with 19 extra-base hits while scoring 41 runs and going a perfect 31-for-31 on stolen base opportunities
  • Received Oakton High School's Sportsman of the Year award and the baseball team's Most Valuable Player award
  • As a junior hit .436 with 25 stolen bases while earning First Team All-District honors
  • 2010 ESPN Rise All-Area top prospects
  • Played as a freshman and sophomore as the starting shortstop for Gonzaga College High School in Washington, D.C.
  • Named honorable mention All-Conference in the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC) both years at Gonzaga
  • Hit .417 for Gonzaga in 2009 while batting leadoff as the starting shortstop as a sophomore
  • Member of the 2009 and 2010 Virginia Commonwealth Games North Team, winning the Commonwealth championship in 2010
  • Also played for Bill Grossman and the Northern Virginia Travel Baseball League (NVTBL) Stars/Prospect Stars
  • NVTBL Prospect Stars were champions of the 2010 Mid-Atlantic Mid-Summer Classic and 2010 DI Draftable 18U Tournament while also placing in the top 16 at the 2010 World Wood Bat 18U National Championship
  • Prospect Stars were champions of the 2010 Fall Wood Bat Tournament
  • Qualified for the Virginia State Track and Field Championships as a senior in the long jump, 800-meter relay and 1,600-meter relay
  • Established Oakton High School records in both relays while placing second in the state in the 1,600 and third in the 800 while also setting a meet record
  • Also played a year of water polo at Gonzaga

Personal:

  • Son of April and Carson Carroll
  • Father played collegiately at UC Irvine (1980, 1981) and was named an honorable mention All-American in 1981 by The Sporting News. He was drafted in 1981 by the Minnesota Twins and played seven years of professional baseball for the Twins, Yankees and Royals while being selected to three Minor League All-Star Games
  • Mother, April "Bunny" Freud Carroll, played field hockey at California (Berkeley) and went on to train with the United States Field Hockey Squad in Colorado Springs. She was named a Mitchell & Ness USA All-American in 1984.
