RICHMOND, Va., Jan. 21, 2013 – James Madison redshirt freshman diver Taryn McLaughlin (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) is the Colonial Athletic Association Diver of the Week for the fourth time this season as announced by the league on Tuesday.
McLaughlin wins the honor after recording a pair of top-two finishes over the weekend at a double-dual meet against Pittsburgh and Denison. She finished first on the one-meter board, scoring 264.20 points to outscore her nearest competitor by nearly 10 points. On the three-meter dive, McLaughlin tallied 254.40 points and was narrowly edged out for first by Pittsburgh’s Sam Winkelmann.
This season, the Hudson, Ohio native has turned in 10 top-two finishes, including five first-place showings. She has recorded NCAA Zone qualifying dives in both diving events.
Northeastern’s Anna Schegoleva is the CAA Swimmer of the Week.
McLaughlin and the diving Dukes return to the pool on Feb. 8 in South Carolina as they participate in a diving-only meet at Clemson University.
