  • JMU is coming off an 0-2 weekend after dropping matches at UNCW and the College of Charleston last weekend.
  • Junior middle blocker Lizzy Briones moved into a tie for ninth on JMU's all-time block assist list with 254, tying Beth Tyson. She is 13 block assists shy of tying Elizabeth Dean and Kristie Davidson for seventh all-time.
  • The Dukes are 1-0 against Delaware this season, winning a 3-1 decision in Harrisonburg on Oct. 13. Freshman Kate Whitmire collected a match-high 13 kills to lead Madison.

  • Sophomore Robert Stirling is coming off a solid showing at the ITA Atlantic Regional, hosted by Virginia Tech. He rolled to a 6-4, 6-2 win in his first match, before pushing nationally-ranked Andreas Bjerrehus (Virginia Tech) to three sets before falling 1-6, 6-3, 6-1.
  • Freshmen Brett Moorhead and Sebastian Salinas teamed up to win their first round match at the ITA Atlantic Regional, topping Virginia Tech's Nicholas Wilson and Rafael Ribas, 8-6. 
  • Sophomore Maxi Branth lost his only match at the ITA Atlantic Regional, but is still having a successful fall season. He holds a team-best 5-3 record in singles play.

  • The Dukes return to the pool after an off weekend. They last participated in the Virginia Tech Swimming Challenge where they went 1-3 against Radford (win), Liberty, North Carolina and Virginia Tech.
  • Junior Susanne Gingher was the top finisher on the day for Madison, placing second in the 50-yard freestyle. She timed a 23.69, tying the third-fastest time in her career.
  • Redshirt freshman Taryn McLaughlin was the top finisher on the boards for JMU. She placed fourth on the one-meter with a score of 265.40.

 Game Notes:

  • JMU leads the all-time series 6-3-2, but Drexel has won the last two meetings, both at Drexel.
  • Three goalies have recorded shutouts for the Dukes this season. Redshirt senior Colin Newcity posted a shutout in his first start of the season, leading JMU to a 2-0 win over Belmont on Tuesday.
  • The Dragons lead the CAA standings with an unbeaten 3-0-1 mark in conference games.

  • After a much-needed off week, James Madison will start the final stretch of the regular season on the road, traveling to in-state rival William & Mary for this afternoon's contest. The final five games of the regular season will alternate road and home, culminating in the season finale at No. 3 Towson Nov. 23.
  • This is the second-longest running series of any JMU opponent in Madison history, as this will be the 36th time that the Dukes and Tribe have met on the gridiron. JMU holds a 20-15 advantage, but is just 9-10 in Williamsburg.

 Game Notes:

  • Freshman outside hitter Kate Whitmire paced Madison with 25 kills during last weekend's play. She has recorded double-digit kills in thre straight matches, including a career-best 15 against the College of Charleston last Sunday.
  • Towson has suggested fans park in Lot 20 behind SECU Arena instead of Lot 21 due to a scheduling conflict on Saturday.
  • JMU is 1-0 against Towson this season after earning a 3-1 win in Sinclair Gymnasium back on Oct. 11. Freshman right side Janey Goodman and junior middle blocker Lizzy Briones combined for 27 kills and 11 blocks to pace the Dukes.

 Game Notes:

  • After a 1-1 split of their final two non-conference and road games of the regular season, the Dukes are 8-7 overall.  JMU won 3-0 on Friday, Oct. 18 at Davidson and lost 5-1 at No. 14 Wake Forest on Sunday, Oct. 20.
  • JMU holds a 1-2 record and sits in fifth place in the CAA standings with three conference games at home left to close out the year.  Drexel is 1-1 heading into the weekend, tied for third place with Northeastern and Hofstra.
  • The Dragons have been ranked four times this season, voted as high as 16th on Sept. 29, 2013.
  • This is the Dukes’ annual “Play 4 the Cure” game in support of the National Foundation for Cancer Research.  The Dukes will wear pink warm-up shirts that will be sold in a silent auction following the game with proceeds benefiting the NFCR. Donations are also being accepted, either in person or online.
